***** RED ALERT *****

Less than 10 years ago, all the garlic we bought was from the USA. Now, over 60% is from China, and that’s an issue because it’s bad for our farmers and our health. Chinese garlic is bleached, fumigated with neurotoxic chemicals, and grown in sewer water. It’s also bitter and nowhere good as the garlic grown in California. You can easily spot garlic from China, the roots are completely removed and it’s bleached perfectly white. I would highly recommend buying locally sourced garlic, or the stuff grown in California.

Hello Herd. Be cautious with all foods, whatever the source. The is ample easily-found information upon the Web regarding proper food handling and preparation. Sometimes we have to just play the odds, since not all food threats can be avoided. Do whatever is possible to avoid contamination. I frequently walk away from the produce aisle when what I seek is labeled “product of Mexico” or some other foreign country. Frozen seafood is one area where I ensure the item is USA-sourced. I would accept Canada-based seafood but I have never seen that in the stores I shop at. Are Canadians too lazy to fish, or do they keep the fish for their selves?

Some parts of the planet are lax regarding food safety. China appears to be one of those and with the flood of China-sourced stuff engulfing the USA do what you think best to protect yourself and loved ones. The video below may be enlightening:
