Meals Delivered at Home That You Cook

pic from the linked-to review

Maybe if I was rolling in the dough (get it? lots of money using food as a reference. clever, huh?) I might consider trying one or more of those firms that ship your food to your door with you preparing the stuff or eating up already prepared vittles or whatever the delivering firm has you doing to make the vittles edible.

The linked-to review site gives us an idea of what to expect but I noticed a lack of negatives. No mention of those damn porch pirates who steal delivered packages. Will the firm ship you a replacement package if you inform them that the original was pilfered by societal deviants deserving of a severe public flogging? Or do you pay for the meals to replace the stolen ones?

The reviewer mentions quality produce but is that quality consistent? Is any of the produce imported from foreign countries such as Mexico where sanitation standards tend to be lax in comparison to the USA and where pesticide and herbicide use is less regulated? Are fish imported from China where the fish farms are known to harbor polluted water and other negatives? When I notice fish originating from foreign countries at the grocery store I recoil in horror when China is listed as country of origin and usually do when other foreign countries such as Vietnam or Thailand are listed but occasionally I do buy from non-China foreign sources, depending upon my mood.

A thorough review would test the shipped-in foods for bacterial levels that would indicate the cleanliness of the preparation place and of the employees within. A thorough cooking/heating of the food will hopefully destroy any bacteria hitching a ride but will that process nullify any toxins created via the bacterial waste products those tiny living entities leave behind in their little bacteria turds and pee? That may sound gross but it’s reality. Living critters of all sizes input energy sources then expel the residue. Some bacteria expel poisons (toxins) that harm the human body. Even if the bacteria are dead if you eat food with enough bacteria toxin within you can get sick or die in extreme cases!!! Eeeeek!!!

Even cheapskate me has a digital thermometer designed for ensuring foods are cooked to an adequate temperature to minimize the risk of food poisoning. I also take the typical precautions of handling raw meat in a safe manner and constantly washing hands at the required time to stop cross-contamination and the other precautions easily found at multiple Web sites eagerly awaiting your visit so that you, too, can be well-versed on how to minimize your chances of becoming sick or dead due to food poisoning.

I will likely never try any of those delivery services. However, if my lottery ticket wins me a couple hundred-million dollars or more who knows, I might give one or more of those firms a try out of curiosity. As for food delivery . . . I rarely have ANY food delivered. I did knuckle under this winter when on a frigid cold gusty winter day with a wind-chill at the sub-zero level and hankering for a Domino’s pizza I phoned in an order and within a half-hour a hearty soul handed me a still-hot yummy pizza. Yep, I tipped the driver. Five-bucks. They earned it. Do not be a tight-wad unless forced to be one. Give your delivery folks a tip. A good one. Karma will smile upon you.
