Orange Chicken Frozen Meal | Lean Cuisine. My Review!!!

“Tangy flavor you’ll want to savor. Tender white meat chicken in a sweet and spicy orange sauce accented with almonds, edamame and white rice. Hunger pangs be gone! Feed Your Phenomenal with Orange Chicken from Lean Cuisine.

The plastic container is around 6-7/8 inches long and 5 inches wide and 1 inch deep.  7 hunks of breaded chicken reside within with one itty-bitty morsel sitting next to its larger brethren. I am chewing on the first hunk now. No gristle. Breading is thin. The taste is largely from the sauce that I stirred into the meat and part of the white rice. I left some of the rice sauce-free to allow a rice and other veggies embedded taste test.

White rice and a green thing in my mouth right now. Bland. Not salty tasting to me despite the bos stating the dish provides 30% of the daily sodium requirement as determined by some authoritarian organization, agency or mob somewhere someplace of where they reside I do not know. And I do not want to encounter them.

Another chicken hunk being chewed upon. Basically bland. No chicken flavor that I can detect. I am a decades-long smoker that does affect my taste-detecting abilities. A non-smoker may taste what I can not. Perhaps this review is best read by smokers. Hey!!! Even smokers deserve taste tests of vittles!!! Another taste of rice without sauce. Boring. Not a bad taste but basically no taste.  Ho hum. Now a taste of sauce with a few grains of rice. Orange sauce? I do not taste anything orange. I taste “wet” with a touch of some sort of spice with a minute amount of spicy heat. Very little heat, folks.

Biting on one of the green things that resembles a mini-Lima bean. Not mushy. Looking at the ingredients I am guessing those few green things must be edamame soybeans. Those little green things do not excite me. I suppose they handle microwave cooking well so are used here. Microwave cooking is the only heating method mentioned.  Four-and-one-half-minutes with a 1,100-watt microwave oven is recommended. My budget microwave 900 watt beast led to my nuking the meal for 5-minutes to ensure the meat was heated thoroughly.

I am watching a Roseanne re-run while eating and writing this review. I am the consummate multi-tasker!!! I am done. Ate the entire thing. All 310 calories. I did not lick the bowl so maybe I input only 300 calories.

I will not buy this product again. Not because it was bad or defective or had something inherently wrong with it. This meal simply lacked what makes me crave more of it. Look at the reviews at the linked-to Web site. There are lots of folks who like the stuff. Maybe you will, too.

Akin to other meals that only require microwave cooking it may be a good meat to take to work… if you have a break room with a freezer to store the thing and a microwave to cook it.

I will try a different Lean Cuisine frozen meal in the future. Maybe this one:

That 240 calories is appealing for a pudgy fellow like me preparing for the upcoming bikini season. Not to wear!!! Hopefully to be semi-slim and appealing to the bodacious babes wearing the bikinis!!!

Happy eating!!!
