Bananas; eaten with pleasure by a multitude of monkeys. And human critters.
I eat bananas instead of other more fattening and less healthy treats for various reasons.
One main reason is to shed a few pounds so that Disgruntled Old Cootesses may desire me as much as a banana. And peel me.
Maybe they will tempt me with a banana in an attempt to coerce me to engage in naughty stuff.
Sadly, I have noticed an obvious decline in banana quality here atop this portion of the Ozark Plateau.
Maybe because we are at the “end of the line” for vittles distribution due to the low population numbers and density.
And, despite the politicians and their minions, cohorts, etc. who continue spewing that price inflation is “under control” and for a lengthy period in the near past refused to even admit price inflation was hitting the common folks hard…..
banana prices have continuously risen while banana quality declined.
When talking with other shoppers as we huddled around the banana display at various grocery stores all of us agree that banana quality is less than what it used to be.
As of April, 2012 the typical banana price per pound is 52-cents.
Considering the costs of production and transportation that really isn’t that expensive but for the enormous number of working-poor and unemployed folks in the USA buying several bananas can be a sizable financial outlay.
Sniff.

I wish I could ignore carbs and calories because my memory takes me back decades ago when banana-nut-bread was a sometime treat.
